25% of all lorries on UK roads are carrying food.

Buying local food takes some of the freight off the roads, reducing CO₂e, congestion, air pollution, road traffic accidents and road building.

Start with the most local sources, farmers' markets, farm and local shops.

Identify produce from your local area.

Next look for neighbouring regions of origin. If you're living in the south of England, for instance, produce from France and Belgium may be nearer than Scotland.

A nominal CO₂e saving is applied to Actions which are difficult to calculate.
